Wool (boiled especially) and felt are a perfect introduction to applique if you have not attempted this technique before.
The fabrics are very stable, which means you have a nice neat finish when it is stitched with a raw edge.
The simple lines in these designs are ideal first projects if you are new to applique, or a breeze for those with more experience.
For a more rustic look, the base and decorative pieces can be hand sewn using an embroidery thread and a buttonhole stitch.
